HISTORY OF PRE-NCE

Pre-NCE Programme started as early as the College began in 1990/1991, under the then Provost Professor T.I. Eze then Dr T.I. Eze. The Pre-NCE and school of General Studies were together as a unit. Pre-NCE was separated from the school of General Studies (G.S) on 14th December, 1998.

The Pre-NCE Programme has been coordinated at different times by:

ADMISSION INTO PRE-NCE PROGRAMME 2016/2017 ACADEMIC SESSION

Applications are invited from suitable qualified candidates for admission into the Pre-NCE programme of the Federal College of Education [Technical], Umunze for 2016/2017 Academic session. Candidates must possess WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE ‘a’ level with a minimum of three (3) credits and two (2) passes including English in not more than two (2) sittings OR TC II with minimum of three (3) credits/merits in relevant area and some passes including English language.

Note: Students awaiting SSCE, NECO, OR NABTEB 2016 are free to apply for admission into Pre-NCE programme.

The Pre-NCE programme is specially designed to provide intensive academic preparation (teaching) to all the students who need to improve their performances in JAMB/UTME and WASC/ SSCE/NECO/GCE ‘a’ level. The programme would also prepare students for admission into NCE or Degree programme of the college.

  • Pre-NCE Fine and Applied Arts Education
  • Pre-NCE Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physical and Health Education, Integrated Sciences, Mathematics)
  • Pre-NCE Industrial Technical Education (Building, Automobile, Metal and Woodwork).

Method of Application:

Candidates wishing to do the programme in any of the areas listed above should purchase the admission form from admissions’ office with Bursary Receipt.

Students are to pay the sum of #3,000 through Platform Remita Online from the College Revenue Unit, any Bank/Micro Finance Bank or Cyber Cafe.

Procedure:

(a) Students shall visit the Revenue Unit of the College, any Bank or Cyber Cafe for the generation of Remita Retrieval Receipt (RRR).

(b) The printed Remita Retrieval Receipt Invoice will be taken to any Bank for payment.

(c) The Teller and Bank print out with the printed Remita Retrieval Receipt shall be taken to Bursary for issuance of College Receipt.

(d) The Receipt issued by the Bursary department shall then be taken to admission Office for the collection of forms.

Duration of programme:

Pre-NCE programme run for one (1) academic session. Return of Completed Form: All completed forms must be returned and should contain: One photocopy of original cash receipt of purchase of admission form Two recent passport size photographs Photocopies of credentials Three self addressed stamp official envelopes One bag envelop.

Note: Each Academic session starts from July and ends on March each year. All Pre-NCE students are also required to sit for UTME or any other prescribe examination and Score a minimum National cut-off point in order to be absorbed into the NCE or Degree programmes of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze.
