This School equips students with basic competencies in Accounting, Commerce/Cooperative and Office Technology Education Management in line with NCCE and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) Awka minimum standard and philosophy of the National Policy on Education.
About
School of Business Education, Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze took off in 1989 at the temporary site of the College with two departments namely: Accounting Education and Secretarial Studies with a population of Forty Eight (48) students, all of who came in through JAMB. It had ten (10) teaching staff and four (4) non-teaching staff. Ever since then the students’ population has continued to increase year after year.
The second batch of students came in through Pre-NCE and JAMB. There was also an increase in the number of teaching staff which grew to fourteen (14) then. The School of Business Education moved to the permanent site of the College at the beginning of the year 2004 with staff strength of eighteen (18) lecturers and nine (9) non-teaching staff. The students’ population rose to six hundred and fifty (650). The Pre-NCE was departmentalized for the first time in the 2002/2003 Academic session. In the 2011/2012 Academic session, the College in affiliation with Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka started offering degree programmes. The School of Business Education started running its degree programme same year in three options namely: Accounting Education, Commerce/Cooperative Education and Secretarial Technology Education. School of Business Education started graduating students in Bachelors Degree in 2014.
The introduction of degree programme in addition to the NCE programme led to tremendous increase in staff and students strength. School of Business Education has been headed by the following Directors later renamed Deans.
