Applicants must write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and attain an acceptable standard in the use of English (compulsory) and three subjects relevant to the proposed course of study.

NCE Entry Requirements in various schools

School of Agriculture and Home Economics- Students seeking for admission into NCE Agricultural Education program should possess any of the following qualifications:
•    Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) or GCE ‘O’ Level/NECO with credit in 5 subjects including English Language and Mathematics, at not more than two sittings.
•    A grade II Teachers’ Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit in five subjects. Credit/Merit in Agricultural Science and General Science or integrated Science are required.
•    For Candidates transiting from college organized Pre-NCE program, a cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 is required for absorption into direct NCE Agricultural Education Program.
•    Associate Ship Certificate in Education awarded by an approved institution in Nigeria or abroad is also acceptable as qualification.

School of Business Education- Students seeking for admission into NCE Business Education program should possess any of the following qualifications:
•    Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) or GCE ‘O’ Level/NECO with credit in 5 subjects including English Language and Mathematics, at not more than two sittings.
•    To be eligible for direct admission a candidate must have three (3) credits. The business subjects in which credits must be obtained are:-
o    Economics
o    Principles of Accounts/Bookkeeping
o    Business Methods/Introduction to business Management/Office Practice/Secretarial Duties
o    Shorthand
o    Typewriting
o    Commerce
•    A ‘Credit’ in English language and Mathematics
School of Education and General Studies- Students seeking for admission into NCE Education and General Studies program should possess any of the following qualifications:
•    English (Double Major)- 5 credits in English, Mathematics and Literature in-English and any other two Arts/Social Science subjects.
•    Early Childhood Education-5 Credit passes including English Language
•    Igbo/English-5 credits in English, Mathematics and Literature in-English and any other two Arts/Social Science subjects.
•    Adult and Non Formal Education-5 Credits to include English, Mathematics and any other 3 Subjects

School of Fine and Applied Art Education- Students seeking for admission into the School should possess any of the following qualifications:
•    Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) or GCE ‘O’ Level/NECO with credit in 5 subjects including English Language, three of which must be at credit level at the same sitting or four credits at two sittings.
•    A grade II Teachers’ Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit in three subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer.
•    The successful completion of Pre-NCE programme must be in Fine and Applied Arts.

School of Industrial Technical Education- Students seeking for admission into the School should possess any of the following qualifications:
•    Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) or GCE ‘O’ Level/NECO with credit in 5 subjects including English Language, three of which must be at credit level at the same sitting or four credits at two sittings. Two of the credits must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to study. Credit in English and/or Mathematics may be required.
•    A grade II Teachers’ Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit in three subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer.

School of Sciences- Students seeking for admission into the School should possess any of the following qualifications:
•    A senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) (of NECO or WAEC) or GCE ‘O’ Level with a minimum of 5 Credits including English, Mathematics, Biology and any two relevant science subject which must be either of these subject Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Agric Science and Health Education.
•    A grade II Teachers’ Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit in three subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer.

School of Languages- Students seeking for admission into the School should possess any of the following qualifications:
•    Senior Secondary Certificate (SSC) or GCE ‘O’ Level/NECO with credit in 5 subjects including English Language, three of which must be at credit level at the same sitting or four credits at two sittings. Two of the credits must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to study. Credit in English and/or Mathematics may be required.
•    A grade II Teachers’ Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit in three subjects, two of which must be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to offer.
